Short Sequences/Young Dogs – MEB

Friday 12/3 – 1pm-4pm

Sequences will consist of 4-6 obstacles. This is the perfect workshop for young dogs that are just learning to sequence. Obstacles will consist of jumps & tunnels only.

Prerequisites – Dogs should be sequencing 4-6 obstacles. Contacts and weaves not required and full height jumps not required.

Deceleration

Saturday 12/4 – 9:30-12:30

This is a much needed workshop for agility competitors.  Most agility courses consist of many more turns than straight lines and most of these turns need deceleration skills. While it may seem like a basic skill, deceleration is often underutilized and misunderstood.  In this workshop, you will learn why, when and how to use deceleration.  We will cover the elements of handling including connection, footwork, timing and your dog’s response to your cues.  We will cover the differences between the rhythm change, send and turning into your dog.

Either/Or

Saturday 12/4 – 1:30-4:30

Do you and your dog understand the cues to give when he has multiple choices on which obstacle to take or which direction to approach or exit a jump or tunnel?  We will work on short sequences offering choices, EITHER this one OR that one. Dogs should be sequencing jumps and tunnels.

Sequencing

Sunday 12/5 – 9:30-12:30

Handlers will be put to the test on sequences consisting of 8-12 obstacles consisting of jumps and tunnels only (contacts and weaves will not be included).  Sequences will have some technical elements, but all level dogs are welcome.

Prerequisites – dogs should be 9 months of age or older. Contacts and weaves not required, full height jumps not required.

Coursework

Sunday 12/5 – 1:30-4:30

Handlers will be put to the test working on technical courses.  Courses will consist of about 20-25 obstacles and will be the equivalent of the highest level seen in the US.

Prerequisites: Dogs should be 18 months or older, proficient on all obstacles, and should be able to complete USDAA Biathlon, UKI Masters/Champ, AKC Premier/ISC level courses.
